Our story begins in 2006

when local resident Denise Cohn was dismayed by the lack of avenues for the children of Falls Village to explore the dramatic arts. Denise rallied the local community to put on a professionally directed and choreographed production of “The Wizard of Oz.” Fundraisers were held, and thanks to the generosity of the community, the production became a reality. Thirty-six students, ages 5 – 18, as well as numerous adult volunteers and hired professionals, put on an inspirational show. Following the success of “The Wizard of Oz,” The Falls Village Children’s Theater Company (FVCT) was born.

In 2007, FVCT purchased a former church on Main Street to set up a permanent home for the organization. For fourteen years, FVCT continued to produce very popular annual youth productions, bringing together community members of all ages to work behind the scenes, on stage, and enjoy the free, public performances. Productions ceased during the height of the pandemic in 2020-21 but resumed in 2022.

2023 ushered in a new era for the organization with the completion of our strategic plan and adoption of The Center on Main as our expanded identity. We began increasing our program offerings to include community discussions, music lessons, art making for adults and children, song circles, coworking sessions, communication workshops, and more. While the children’s theater will always be an integral part of our history and offerings, it is just a small segment of what we are growing to become. We envision a future filled with a broad selection of programming catered towards deepening connection and creativity for community members of all ages.

We hope you’ll join us — everyone is welcome.
