If you've ever been curious about contra dancing (or if you just like having a good time with neighbors), we have the perfect series for you! Join instructor Tom Scott and the locally famous Falls Village Fiddler (Rachel Gall) for a three-part beginner's contra dance school.
At its core, contra dancing is a social interaction. It's about meeting people and making new friends, set to live music. In this series you will learn the basic structure of the contra set, the roles of the dance partners, proper etiquette, and the different figures that are used to move through the set. In this 3-part series, you will be guided from novice to proficient in dancing the most common contra figures. This type of dance is fun and easy to learn. Come solo or bring a friend! Walk away with the confidence to attend any of the local contra dances.
Classes are $15-20 sliding scale. Participants are encouraged to attend all three sessions since the skills will build, but no one will be turned away. If you can't make all three, come for the others anyway.
Classes are held on the second Saturday of the month, from 6pm-8pm.
