Try your hand at Kumihimo, a traditional Japanese braiding art form that turns colored threads into strong, intricately patterned cords. Once used to fasten samurai armor, these beautiful cords can be used in place of string in just about anything (key rings, clothing ties, shoe laces, purse straps, dog leashes, you name it!).

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll get an overview of the craft, learn basic techniques, choose from cotton and linen threads, and create your first cord on a foam braiding disk. Participants are welcome to take the disk home with them to continue exploring. This workshop is free and limited to 10 participants, ages 15+.  Please register in advance.
